Introduction
This paper is aimed at examining the force policy utilization and its effects on the cases
of excessive use of force. The employment of force policy has been a long-lasting international
case whereby there is availability of high-profile cases of numerous officers being involved in
gun shootings increasingly being reported. The incident of formalizing police departments
creates new rules and regulations. Force policy use was observed as a measure to control the
level of force used by officers when trying to subdue the subject unwillingly. The studies on this
major subject have revealed that other techniques of training are more effective in comparison to
others. Research findings also proposes that it is the experience of the interconnection that are
most likely to be linked with the force decisions use. Henceforth, succeeding studies should

Use of Force Policy
The use of force is an important aspect of policing and one of the most disputed matter in
the process of law enforcement. The use of force became eminent when this profession was
standardized making it universal. As the employment of use of force became more common,

and the policy. These policy aspect components contain numerous guidelines’ that are required to
be adhered to in the interactions concerning the use of force. Despite disparity in the guideline

officers how to gain control over a situation, de-escalate, interact as well as the situation
approach.

The aspect of training of use of force nessesitates real-world exersies, de-escalation
training, trainig exercises, weapons and in-class lectures. The real-pworld exercises have
revealed many possible benefits as they try to match the real world interactions and situations
encountered by the officers.De-escalation training which is a new trend implies understanding
and training in behaviour as well as tactics in negotiations in order to surge the intense situations.
Also the weapons training involves employment of all forms of force as well as practice:lethal
devices, non- lethal devices, verbal and hand-to-hand. In-class lectures contains prior
understanding on the use of force as well as the philosophy surrounding it and learning the use of
force spectrum.Nevertheless, the duration of training officers as well as quality of the training
differs in comparison to the agency or department. Majority of the policies stresses only on the
use of force training in comparison to anything else.
