Name Teacher’s Name English 106 Fall 2005 Are the study of DNA and the mapping of the human genome important and critical to the future of the human species? I would like to believe that anyone who researches the subject would agree that the study of DNA and the human genome is a very popular topic. There are many people who think that the study of DNA and mapping the human genome is very important to the growth of the human race while others will think it a waste of time and resources. Still others will also bring up moral issues. Some will say that messing with the makeup of the human genes is wrong or immoral. DNA is short for Deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA is a nucleic acid that contains all the instructions for the growth and development of any and all forms of life including human cells. DNA is responsible for anything hereditary and is thought of as a genetic molecule of inherited traits. It is important to realize that DNA is accountable for every single living cell in our bodies.
