What is the purpose of sampling? What are some concerns and dangers of sampling? How important is the sample design to data validity? Explain. Provide an example where a sample might misrepresent data validity. For example, reflect on the current political campaign and the pollsters!Sampling can be used in order to produce to likelihood of an outcome as it relates to business. When organizations are faced with implementing a new product within an area their focus will be on whether or not the venture is profitable. In order to do this the company needs to conduct research and collect data related to potential consumer reception of the individual product. This can be done in the form of surveys which can be used in order to provide sample data for future business ventures. There are times when this data presents an advantage for companies that are engaged within a competitive market. The outcome is based on the probability of the whole based on the data from the sample. For instance when there are polls being conducted on CNN related to the presidential candidates the percentages are based on the opinions of a few. This data most of the time is erroneous due to the fact that many of the participants are personnel within specific campaigns seeking to advance their nominee. This can create a bias within the poll and produce inaccurate numbers related to the topic of the poll. This reduces the validity of such polls and produces inaccurate numbers related to the probability of the condition of the those represented.
