Response: Monster 1. The movie “Monster” is about gender codes because it goes through her trying to get a legit job like a secretary and it shows that it’s harder because she is a woman. This is also true in real life when it comes to big jobs or just being able to do things that are commonly done by men. The biggest one would probably be women trying to get high powered jobs. Women are generally not looked at as good of workers then men in the work world. Another would be women not being as strong as men so that men feel they can walk all over them. 2. In the movie the “class” that she is in would be very low class due to her being a prostitute, living in a crummy motel and selling herself for money. This brings what people see of her to a totally different level. When she went for a job the lawyer first said there would be no lawyer jobs for her then laughed when she asked for a secretary job. She was also taking advantage of by a cop because of her class and her past. This shows that she because of her social class is always
