5 . After completing this lab I believe that the earth is slowly warming up. Although the temperature today is not at an extreme, it has slowly been rising along with the CO2 level. Data preserved from the past also shows this correlation between temperature and CO2 levels. Assuming that this trend continues, the effects could become severe. With temperatures rising there would be effects in the rise of sea level and the protection that the ozone provides us from ultra violet light. I believe that the evidence and data is strong enough for the United States to begin to stop global warming. Even though it would be impossible to completely stop the emissions of greenhouse gases it would be wise to take action now. To start we could concentrate on

Unformatted text preview: making our energy cleaner. One of the biggest carbon dioxide emitters is the burning of coal. Recently there has been a breakthrough in which coal can be gasified and then the impurities can be separated out. This is at least a step in the right direction. It would also be a good idea to work towards vehicles that burn clean fuel such as hydrogen. The government has to put more emphasis on taking a hit in oil profits in order to save the world. It will take a long time for these actions to make any effect on global warming, but it has to start sometime. Even if we stopped all green house gas emissions the temperature would continue to rise. It is time to take the hit for the future of the world....
