Observing Bacteria and Blood
The purpose of this lab is to begin the process of being able to identify different shape,
sizes, and arrangements of cells.
First, I let my yogurt sit out for 12-24 hours, in a clear plastic container. I then used a
toothpick to place some of the yogurt on a slide and covered it with a piece of cover
glass. I then placed the slide on the stage of the microscope and looked at the yogurt
slide at 10x, 40x, and 100x. I then took the prepared yogurt slide and placed it on the
stage of the microscope and looked through the lenses at 10x, 40x, and 100x. And
finally, I compared the two slides and described the differences.
With the blood slide, I had to use a lancet to draw blood from my finger tip. I then placed
a drop of blood on a slide and placed a piece of cover glass to “smear” the blood. I then
placed the slide on the stage of the microscope and looked through the lens at 10x, 40x,
