HaberstrohDate: 4.2019JOB SUMMARYThe Interpreter Manager will provide leadership, direction and coordination of the operations, budget and staff of the Interpreter ServicesDepartment, including responding to daily needs/requests from internal and external customers and staff, providing supervision andcoaching of staff and independent contract interpreters, and processing interpreter payments. S/he ensures compliance with legal andregulatory requirements and develops best-practice and service benchmarks in the area of linguistically appropriate services across UWHealth.When needed to ensure appropriate level of service for patients & families, s/he will provide interpretation for UW Health patients, familiesand staff.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESA.ManageInterpreter Services DepartmentPlan and manage budgetMake decisions on staffing levels and deployment and direct staffInternal and External Customers: Respond to internal and external customers’ feedback regarding provision ofservices, keep Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion apprised of any issues, and refer issues to Director whenappropriate.Department staff: Provide coaching and feedback to staff on day to day performance issues.Keep Director apprised ofany issues and refer issues to Director of Patient Partnerships when appropriate. Responsible for staff performancereviews.Independent Contract Interpreters: Maintain updated database. Oversee payment of interpreters. Ensure compliancewith all requirements.Provide coaching and feedback on performance issues.Keep Director of Diversity, Equity &Inclusion apprised of any issues and refer issues to Director when appropriate.
