CATEGORIES OF AIR CARGO SYSTEMS2There are two main types of air cargo systems, passenger and air cargo systems. In addition to these two, there are also military air cargo systems, joint, and civil. Military air cargo systems seek to meet the needs of both the military and other commercial requirements. As a result, they can be placed in a separate category of air cargo systems. All these systems have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. Air cargo systems can be made up of either passenger or cargo planes. In the case of passenger planes, cargo is transported in the same planes that transport passengers. In most cases, the cargo is stored in the belly of commercial passenger planes (Wensveen, 2012). In the case of military planes, cargo needed by troops is transported in these planes. The same planes can also be used to transport military soldiers at the same time that the plane is transporting cargo. Military cargo in most cases includes goods such as guns, rescue equipments and food for military personnel (Jackson, 2009).
