They handle the delivery of millions ofpackages all over the world. UPSUPS owes its origins to Jim Casey who founded it in 1907 in Seattle. He was only 19 years old at the time and operated a bicycle messenger service known as American Messenger Service, with only six bicycles. Its operations included delivery of hot lunches as well as telegraph messages (Steward, 2013). Casey merged the company with another company known as Motorcycle Delivery Company to form Merchants Parcel Delivery. The company had already expanded by 1915 with four cars and five motorcycles. It mainly specialized in the delivery of services for department stores.
