1 Citation: Hauser. M.D.(1993). Animal Behavior. Do Vervet monkey infants cry wolf?. 1242- 1244. Harvard University, Cambridge, MA Introduction: Hypothesis- There is a direct relationship between the call rate of the young and the amount of care they receive. Briefly review the three main points. 1. Examine effectiveness of vervet infant’s calls and compare to care. 2. The young are killed off easily due to their loud begging calls. 3. The call rates didn’t seem to have much of an effect on the mothers towards the later months of the monkey’s lives. Method: Provide a short description of the subjects: The subjects were infant Vervet monkeys and adult mothers. How did the researchers gather data: The infants were separated into two groups, those who survived the first year and those who didn’t survive. The researchers examined how call rate and response from the mother are related. Watched the young as they called for their mother and examined the response. Results:
