March 19, 2008 Mayor Peter Yao, My name is Lauren Wichhart, I am a resident here in the City of Claremont and attend Citrus College. The City of Trees as all us “Claremontians” know it, and number five in the nation to live. I am a proud resident and pleased with the overall appreciation that Claremont residents have for our environment. In past recent months we have had many environmentally friendly events to encourage more of the population to get involved. One of these actions would include the Household Hazardous Waste Collection event, where we collected 5,750 pounds of oil, 37, 685 pounds of e-waste, and 170 car battery units. Along with this we have a Used Oil Collection Center where residents can recycle their used motor oil by taking it to Connie & Dick’s Automotive. It is funded by a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board, and is very helpful to our earth. I believe that these residents that already are involved in our programs would be
