Unformatted text preview: Bobby Moran The article I printed out had to do with the national debt and the problem it poses to the US economy. As of now the US is paying only the interest of the debt that has accrued. So the deficit has grown to $9.13 trillion dollars. The problem that this creates is that on this pace the deficit continues to grow and nothing is being done to decrease the deficit. As the deficit grows more and more money is put towards paying off the interest of the huge deficit. The way the interest continues to compound other areas will not be able to receive funding because the money will be taken up by paying for the interest payments. There are only two major options to fix this problem. Either sharply raising taxes, or cutting basic civil services. Both ways have negative affects and people will protest, but the national debt is becoming a very LARGE problem that needs to be dealt with soon.
