Kinetics of Dye Decomposition Report Form Chemistry 112 Lab Section 005 October 21, 2014 A. The research questions for this lab are: 1. What is the reaction order for crystal violet in its reaction with hydroxide? 2. What is the activation energy of the reaction? B. Observations & Results Complete the following table; include appropriate units for k: Rate Constant (k) Temp (°C) 0.0012 s -1 23.4 0.0002 s -1 3.4 Graphs for 0, 1 st , and 2 nd order of the reaction at 23.4 °C, and for 1 st order at 3.4 °C are attached to this report form. The 1 st order graph of the reaction at 3.4 °C only has 9 points on it instead of 10 because the last data point was inaccurate during the experiment, and the timer was stopped before we realized and could take another absorbance measurement with the correct time. C. Complete claims for each of the research questions above. (Include appropriate units.) 1. The reaction order for crystal violet in its reaction with hydroxide is first order. 2. The activation energy of the reaction is 61.08 kJ/mol. D. Evidence Compose and attach a statement of the evidence you have to support each of the claims you made. You will need to describe some theoretical background about both the

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
