Morgan Wilson SYP 3060 678 words 1. Kinsey originally studied engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, which was a demand from his father. After two years at Stevens, he transferred to Bowdoin College in Maine to study entomology, and later graduated with degrees in both biology and psychology. After graduating at Bowdoin, Kinsey attended graduate school at Harvard University’s Bussey Institute where he earned his Sc. D degree. While still working towards his degree at Harvard, Kinsey studied Gall Wasps, and later wrote a widely used high-school textbook, An Introduction to Biology . 2. Kinsey’s study of the variations in mating practices among gall wasps led him to the study of sexual practices among humans. He developed a scale which measured a person’s sexual orientation, known as the Kinsey Scale. It ranged from 0 to 6, where 0 was exclusively heterosexual, while 6 was exclusively homosexual. 3.
