1. Compare and Contrast the Alexander’s Emancipation Manifesto with Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, and use the historical context of the times to interpret the documents. There are similarities and differences between the Alexander’s Emancipation Manifesto and Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. The purpose of the documents is similar almost identical to one another. However, the aftermath and the historical context of the each documents differed a little. The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. This document directly freed all the slaves, who were mostly residing in the southern part of the United States. It was hard to get rid of the slavery because the main source of the economy in America at that time was agriculture. The more workers you had, the more benefits and harvests you got out of those workers. Slaves tend to have no rights, but just to work for their owner. Finally, President Lincoln strongly disagreed with the idea of slavery and worked his best
