Topic: New Alcohol Rules in New Braunfels Organization: Problem/Solution Specific Purpose: I would like my audience to believe that these new alcohol rules are not the answer and that alternative steps should be taken. INTRODUCTION I. Attention Getter : Last summer while on a trip to New Braunfels I witnessed a horrific car wreck in which 3 people died. As you might assume it was an alcohol related accident. Several weeks later I came to find out that the accident involved three Austinites going home from tubing the Comal River. You hear about this stuff all the time but next time it might be someone you know. II. Relevance: At Texas State Tubing is a way of life. Breaking the law isn’t how many times have you broken the law while tubing. III. Credibility : After seeing that accident and hearing about numerous others something must be done to ensure safety while drinking on the river IV. Propositional Statement: Too much alcohol on the river can ruin a persons life. There is drowning danger, fines, and risk of alcohol related car accidents on the way
