Neuron Assignment
According to Queensland Brain Institute, “Neurons (also called neurons or nerve cells)
are the fundamental units of the brain and nervous system, the cells responsible for receiving
sensory input from the external world, for sending motor commands to our muscles, and for
transforming and relaying the electrical signals at every step in between (2019). Neurons are
transfer of information from sensors for example on the skin, receptors, to the brain. Neurons
transfer information from one nerve ending to another nerve too. Neurons are electrical in nature,
and they use the moving of negative and positive ions to transfer information through the
nervous system. The functions of the nervous system which includes response, sensation and
integration is made possible through different pathways that support these functions.
