Maslow Biography Born on April 1 st , 1908 in Brooklyn, New York His parents were uneducated Jewish immigrants and they had seven children, Maslow was the oldest As a child Maslow lonely, he read books in his spare time After grade school Maslow attended the City College of New York and studied law, after a couple of semesters he transferred to Cornell University, he then transferred back to the City College of New York He married Bertha Goodman, who was also his first cousin, and they had two daughters He and his family then moved so that he could attend the University of Wisconsin o Maslow began studying psychology, and worked with Harlow who studied the attachment theory o Received all of his degrees from here, earning his Ph.D. in 1934 Moved back to New York and worked with Thorndike at Columbia, he then became interested in human sexuality Taught full time at Brooklyn College Came in contact with many notable psychologists including Adler Served as the chair for the psychology department at Bradeis from 1951 to 1969
