They pool the money and pick random numbers each day to see how much money they get that day, as if they were working odd labor jobs; some days they get $9, other days they get nothing; they also take out a loan to grow radishes, which they give to their neighbors. Throughout the documentary, they get to know the other families in the village of Piña Blanca, especially Anthony and his family, who teach them how to get more calories from their food, make better fire, and become their friends. One of the boys, Chris, gets sick with E. coli and parasites, but they don't have enough money for the medicine. Eventually, they save up money and are able to pay for a dinner to repay their neighbors.The documentary focused on the food and education of the people. They spent a lot of
