1 LDA 60/Spring 2008 U.C. Davis E.B. McCulley COURSE DESCRIPTION LDA 60 - Landscape Site Engineering Landscape site engineering is a combined lecture/studio course in landscape construction. It is primarily concerned with the description and manipulation of landform, and therefore provides a foundation for site design. Study emphasis will be directed toward developing the student's awareness and understanding of current landscape architectural practice employed in the solution of landscape grading, drainage, and road alignment problems. Format: The course typically consists of a 1 to 2 hour lecture introducing and discussing the methodologies, followed by a 2-3 hour studio to explore and practice these techniques. The studio begins with simple problems, which develop into more complex and comprehensive problems. The final project will be a comprehensive grading and drainage problem. In addition, the course will introduce the following topics: organization of typical contract documents and specifications; typical site drainage structures and methods; road alignment
