Leadership 360 Exercise: Overview of Initial Steps & Deliverables Management I – Gabelli School of Business Integrated Core Spring 2015 Managers with greater awareness of their own behavior —and of how they are perceived by others—are more effective in leading and working with others. To help you gauge and enhance your self-awareness, you will be doing an important online exercise in which you and others will rate and provide free-form comments on your leadership behaviors and style. You (but not your raters) will also complete assessments of personality and values. Later in the semester, you’ll receive a personalized feedback report based on these ratings, reviewing how you rated yourself, how you were rated by others, and some comparison scores from the rest of the students taking IP1 this semester. This feedback will give you a sense of where you’re strong as well as areas for development. You will never be graded on the scores you receive themselves. This exercise is for developmental purposes, so we professors aren’t concerned with what your results are. Instead we are focused on what you do with the report information. Later in the term, you will complete a related assignment where you’re asked to analyze and reflect on your results, whatever they may be. Your grades will be dependent on the quality and depth of your related assignment, not on your scores themselves. We deal with many of the topics addressed in the survey throughout the course, so you’ll be gaining considerable background knowledge. It is essential to complete this assignment fully and on time. Most students find that this is one of the most interesting and useful exercises they do during their business education – we certainly hope that this is the case for you too! DUE BY TUESDAY JANUARY 20 : Self-Assessment You will get an e-mail later this first week of classes providing you with a username and password to log into and start the Leadership 360 process. Step 1: The first step is completing a survey about yourself. Once you log in, you’ll see a link to “Evaluate Yourself”. Click on this link to take your version of the survey, which should take 10-15 minutes. You should do this before you finalize your rater nominations as taking the survey yourself may help you choose who’d you like to answer these questions about you. Be sure to make a note of your login information, as you will need to log into the system again throughout the semester. DUE BY TUESDAY JANUARY 27 : “Personal Choice Raters Nomination” Step 2: Put together your list of the names and e-mail addresses of the people you’d like to invite to provide you with feedback and enter this information in the Qualtrics 360 website before MGMT 1 class on Tuesday, January 27. ( A minimum of 6 raters must be nominated, or a maximum of 10).
