2SocializationWho am I?My name is Hailey Henry, and I was born in San Diego, CA. I am one of three children; Ihave a younger brother and a younger sister with me being the oldest sibling. My status and rolein society is being a wife, daughter, and nursing student.Being the oldest of three siblings, I was born to lead and to succeed in anything that I setout to accomplish. The struggles of abuse and poor mental health in my childhood years provedto be the foundation and building blocks for my willpower to succeed and my strength to becomea better woman within my society. My parents brought us up as Mormons and always stressed tous the importance of family. My parents cut off all contact with biological family so, the othermembers of our church became our family. We would spend holidays, birthday parties, picnics atthe lake, and barbeques with them, as well as every vacation we ever took. These people were allI had growing up and, to this day, I still do not have contact with the biological family of myparents. My mother is a doctor and, while that looked like an amazing job, I saw the nurses as thepeople who really ran the hospital and that’s what I had set my heart on doing for the rest of mylife. I have always felt as though I was born to become a healer and this feeling only solidifiesmore with each day that passes. I am currently an LVN student on the long road to becoming aRegistered Nurse. It was an incredible experience to grow up in a tight-knit family even though we had ourtroubles. My father fell into a deep period of alcoholism, which stained our reputation in thechurch and caused our friends to look down on our whole family. He worked hard every day athis job to provide for us but, when he was at home, he always had a drink in his hand until hewould eventually pass out on the couch. This issue made it almost impossible for me to bring

He has since gotten the help he needs but, we do not speak to eachother anymore.Socialization has affected me as an individual since childhood and has taught me how toact within society. This learning process can present itself through multiple socialization agentsbut, the four agents of socialization that have had the greatest impact on my life are family, school, peer groups, and mass media.
