PROFILE IN MANAGEMENT 2 Characteristics of Business Leadership The purpose of this paper is to examine the current leadership style with in my current place of employment. I’m currently employed at a very busy animal hospital. The office manager of the hospital supervises an average of 60 employees. She is the only to go to person besides the person above her, which is the owner of the hospital. It is said that managers and leaders are two different things but in my current position the only sort of leadership is the manager. This could be the issue with the high turnover rate. Leadership style can defined as the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans and motivating people. Directive leadership can be defined as a type of leadership that involves only giving orders. Employees are given the guidelines for tasks and the standards for the job. Situational Constraints are a big factor in work environment; we are given a certain task and not enough tools, different polices apply to certain people and not everyone, and the resources are so strictly confined that the job performance is low. There is a lack of organization goals as well as individual goals which effects the employee motivation The Primary Business Leadership styles have a big relationship with the organizational structure and cultural structure with in an organization. The structure of my current place of employment will be examined to better understand the relationship between the two.
