Mgt 412 Case #2 Using Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies to Improve OR Throughput By: Catherine B. Fairbanks 1. What is a SIPOC diagram and why was it useful to the authors of this case? A Supplier, Inputs, Process, Outputs, and Customers (SIPOC) diagram was used to measure and evaluate surgical throughput. This diagram works by suppliers providing the inputs that are necessary for the process to occur, which then adds value to the process and to the customer. There are seven processes within this specific SIPOC diagram; patient ready for surgery, OR set up, patient in room, surgery start to end, patient out of room, room teardown, and room clean. 2. What is the Six Sigma problem solving methodology? Compare it to the 7 Step Problem solving method and state which steps are equivalent and which have no corresponding equivalence and our reason for step. Each Six Sigma project starts with a problem. To resolve this problem, we follow the solving method steps below.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
