The World Health Organization defines health promotion as that way of facilitating people in improving health. TheFirst International Conference on Health Promotion identified health promotion actions like strengthening community actions, building healthy public policy, developing personal skills, creation of supportive environments, enhancing a paradigm shift in the current health care system from the curative focus to a preventative focus (World Health Organization, 1986).
