Strain and tear on the tendons and ligaments 3. These are not natural gains in muscle, not enough time to heal B. Heart and Circulatory 1.high doses can enlarge the heart, thickening its walls to the point that it cannot pump properly ( National Institute on Drug Abuse) 2. Anabolic steroids also increase the stickiness of blood cells called platelets . Anabolic steroids increase the number of red blood cells, increase the factors in the blood that produce blood clots, and can increase blood pressure by causing fluid retention. Overall, they can place a big strain on the cardiovascular system.
