Introduction
Visual effects and illusions can often serve as windows to illuminate how the visual perceptual
apparatus works. In this assignment, we'll be using a number of visual effects to explore visual
perception.
The grey patch disappeared after approximately 30-40 seconds. Prolonged exposure to the
stimulus results in a decreased sensitivity and therefore we do not perceive it anymore. Another
similar phenomenon is sensory adaptation, for example, after a while of sitting in a cold pool it
eventually does not feel as cold anymore.
They are all illusions that when you stare at one stimulus long enough, it changes how you
appear the second stimulus.
