Sara Steward Friday 9am-1pm James Lyons Jal3224 Exercise 9: Lab Analysis 6. With the bioinformatics the first step is to find the protein sequence, afterward, find the similarity of the first protein to other proteins using the BLAST program. Next, using ClustalW, perform the multiple sequence alignment before finding the subcellular localization of the protein. Now, find the structure of a protein sequence and your done! Lab Analysis Questions 1. I believe many more proteins were electrotransferred in Gel Half #2 because they can obviously be seen in the gel when compared to Gel Half #1 which only has faint protein stains. I believe that the electro transfer could have been more successful, but for the most part it shows the difference that time factors in to electrophoresis. 2. Coomassie Blue dye stains by attaching to specific amino acids on the proteins in things like BSA in gels. On the contrary things like the nitrocellulose membrane use antibody/secondary antibody detection systems. 3.
