Question 1: Part A:Diversity strategies are used by organizations to prevent discrimination,while encouraging the hiring of employees from different backgrounds, ages, sexual orientation,race and gender (Kimball, 2016, pg 67). Diversity strategies help achieve the goals of theorganization, by ensuring hiring strategies include candidates from various cultures and agegroups allowing organizations to align their markets with their workforce. These strategies areimportant to the success of an organization as they lead to the ability to serve customers in turnleading to more profitability for the organization (Lesson 3: Diversity and Multiculturalism, n.d.,slide 4). Diversity strategies can also lead to new and innovative ideas leading to theorganizations achievement of their goals and supporting the business strategy (Lesson 3:Diversity and Multiculturalism, n.d., slide 5).There are many examples of diversity strategies that support organizational success. First, bycreating inclusive workplace practices ensures all employees, no matter their demographic feelwelcome (Washington & Patrick, 2018, para 11). This shows the extent to which an organizationvalues, respects, accepts, and encourages their employees (Washington & Patrick, 2018, para12). By creating an inclusive workplace employers create an environment in which employeesfeel comfortable, can share their ideas, and are their true, authentic selves (Washington &Patrick, 2018, para 13).By hiring a diverse workforce who are from different cultural backgrounds and speak differentlanguages, organizations can better communicate with and understand each other and theircustomers (Kimball, 2016, pg 67). As the minority population continues to grow, the ability tosell products to a diverse group of people will increase sales, revenue, along with profits(Kimball, 2016, pg 14). By including diversity companies will provide the best customer service(Human Resource Management, n.d., pg 69).2
Finally, by including a multicultural perspective, organization can create better ideas andsolutions (Kimball, 2016, pg 67). Those from varied backgrounds are better equipped to worktogether as they offer varied approaches and perspectives while developing solutions (Chapter 3,n.d. pg 68). Having employees who see different perspectives in the world will help corporationscreate new business opportunities (Kimball, 2016, pg 14).As diversity focuses on the “otherness” between individuals, ensuing everyone is treated fairly,and similarly through corporate policies supporting an organization's talent management strategy(Chapter 3- Diversity and Multiculturalism in Human Resource Management, n.d., slide 4).While diversity assists with preventing discrimination, multiculturalism assists with gaining adeeper understanding of people and the differences between them showing the importance ofhow diversity and multiculturalism can support an organization's talent management strategy
