Jillian Motyl 4/02/08 Monday 11:45 Solubility Product of Calcium Hydroxide Introduction: In this lab we will be able to calculate the solubility product of calcium hydroxide by titrating sodium hydroxide with a standard 0.1 M solution of hydrochloric acid. By determining the volume needed to titrate the calcium hydroxide solution to its endpoint we can then calculate the number of moles of HCl (with the known standard molarity) and then use stoicheometry to find the concentrations of both the calcium and hydroxide ions. We will then be able to solve for Ksp. Chemical Responsibility: Saturated calcium hydroxide is both corrosive and a skin irritant. Hydrochloric acid is corrosive. Methyl orange indicator is toxic by ingestion and calcium chloride carries no major health risks. Report Sheet: See attached Report Sheet Calculations: Se attached Calculations Sheet.
