Anushree Sikchi Mr. Alms Writing for Business & Professions Section 46 2/3/2015 Proposal #1 : Pedestrian Deaths in Orlando, Florida State the Problem Florida is the deadliest state in the United States of America in terms of pedestrian deaths. In the time period 2003-2012, 5,189 people were killed crossing the street statewide. The city Orlando was responsible for 583 of those deaths. According to the Pedestrian Danger Index (PDI), the area has a pedestrian death rate of 3.83 per 100,000 people, the highest in the state. These accidents are occurring due to distracted drivers speeding in neighborhood roads as well as pedestrians risking their lives crossing busy streets or highways. Discuss a Model Vermont is the safest state in the United States in terms of pedestrian accidents and deaths. Clearly, its laws and regulations are successful and therefore should be implemented in other states.
