IntroductionThis report serves as a Professional Development Portfolio (PDP), which will assistme in identifying my own personal goals and development needs in the future. Forme, as a student studying Business Management, it is essential to define the aimsand abilities that will allow me to proceed through my degree and achieve success inthe future. The aim of this paper is to lay out a strategy that will help me succeedthroughout my stay at the institution. It will contain vital components that are criticalin growing skills and securing job, such as an action plan, a learning log, and a CV,among other things. However, first and foremost, it is necessary to define what apersonal development portfolio (PDP) is and why it is crucial to have one.Professional Development PortfolioOverview of PDPCreating a personal development portfolio is a strategy that should be prepared toreach specified objectives and to gather proof of abilities that have previously beenacquired and refined (Moon, 2009). This action of developing a strategy is analogousto developing a future mindset. Because personal development planning is aprocess of lifelong learning, there is no limit to how often it may be changed andupdated (Moon, 2009). The integration of an action plan into PDP is critical for skilldevelopment since it allows for the recording of all tasks that must be completed tomake future progress (Moon, 2009). PDP is a multi-step procedure that requires a lotof effort. It should involve self-reflection, goal planning, investigation, decisionmaking, and reflection as well as other activities (Moon, 2009).Benefits of PDPIn the opinion of (Cottrell, 2015), there are several advantages to developing a PDP.To avoid missing out on chances in life and making some of the incorrect choices, itassists students in setting clear career development objectives early in theiracademic careers. In the workplace, it provides managers with more control since itreveals areas that need development(Armstrong, 2009). Furthermore,understanding the aim of studying helps to increase motivation for attaining2
objectives since it develops a roadmap for achievement that describes each stepalong the way to success (Steinmayret al., 2019). The academic study requires avariety of talents, many of which are transferrable. PDP may teach students how tothink critically and reflectively, which will be beneficial in the future (Cottrell, 2015).
