Hai Nguyen West African Dance 10/30/07 “Kooyinma”, a dance performed by the Les Ballets Bagata in Concert,  was done very artfully and stylishly that it left a lasting impression on me.  The dance started out with the stage setting being amidst the jungle. The low  rumble in the background, along with mood-enhancing lightings, took the  audience immediately to the heart of Africa. The backdrop gave off the vibe of  being among giant trees and low-hanging vines. The initial red glow gave off  a sense of both danger and excitement at the same time. The costumes helped  the audience visualize the way the indigenous were dressed and their ways of  interaction with each others. They were very bright in colors and very eye- catching. In a way, the costumes also enhanced the dancers’ movements and  amplified the details of the dances. The music was enticing and stimulating.  The instruments beckoned and summoned the dancers with each captivating  beats. Each part of the dance has its own beats and rhythms and  choreography to it. The dancers themselves were very enthusiastic and great
