MIS 535 Week 2 Case Study 2 Submitted by Srinivas Aditya D40424504. CASE STUDY 1-1 who’s world’s top retailer? Walmart or Amazon, duke it out Question 1 Analyze Walmart and amazon.com using the competitive forces and value chain models. Answer: In traditional model we can see that the prices of Amazon and Walmart are equal in providing lower prices to their customers, but I think Amazon has a bit inch because it provides free delivery. Also Walmart customers has an inch in free of shopping by looking the items and purchase them. Both of the companies have equal number of customers. In value chain model Amazon customers expect more quality of products because of the brand name of Amazon. Besides that it provides 30 day returns for the products and money back guarantee in 7-10 business days. But Walmart’s efficiency is attracting customers right now because of the physical appearance of the products. In a single comparison, people who are interested in online shopping prefer Amazon and people who like to purchase products with physical appearance. Question 2 : Compare Wal-Mart's and Amazon's e-commerce business models. Which is stronger? Explain your answer. Answer: When we compare the e-commerce business models, I think that both Walmart and Amazon are equally having their e-commerce business models but Walmart has an inch higher because of its stores worldwide. Recently Walmart opened their new stores in India and other Asian countries. When we look the growth of Walmart, we can observe that their business model is a bit more when compared with Amazon. Also I think the inventory system of Walmart helps them to give a strong competition with Amazon because whenever an item is done in their store, the computer directly sends order to their warehouse for delivery of that particular item, where as in Amazon we can see some items are out of stock. So by this I can tell that Walmart’s business model is stronger and reliable.
