Case StudyProfessor Dr. Anita Spector.MGMT 591 Leadership & Organizational Behavior.Submitted by Srinivas Aditya.D40424504.Now-a-days schools are facing some real time problems due to various reasons, after going through the case study, Robbins and Judge (2012) page number 580 we can find someserious issues of Washington D.C public school and they mentioned a strategy called after schoolprogram to overcome some problems like crime, student issues. We can see Woodson foundation whichis a Non-Profit organization teaming up with this school for the purpose of raising funds with the co-operation of the employees of the school with the help of National Coalition for Parental Involvementin Education representing for parents.Let’s analyze briefly each and every problem in all the parts that were mentioned and let us make someassumptions using the Case Study.Part 1. Developing a group.
the dispute of what assembles a cohesive coalition.According to our textbook Robbins and Judge(2012), “those with a strong sense of purpose and strategy rapidly achieve high performance andimprove over time, whereas those with less sense of purpose actually see their performance worsenover time” (p. 275).In this scenario, the Woodson Foundation could take more care on their selectionswhich are relied on persons who bring an affirmative attitude and a sense of determination towards theimprovement of the student's outcome.Part II: Identifying the problem. The foremost problem I chose to discuss is on was what individuals would make up thedevelopment team, and assure that they work adequately with one another. The people in the team aredivided to seven individuals, however, only three will be in the final stage. But how do we choose thebest fit for the group?According to our textbook Robbins and Judge (2012), the factors that mostsignificantly relate to group implementation are “apt resources, reliable leadership, a climate of trust, and a performance evaluation and reward system that reflects team results” (p. 314).In this scenario, the team needs to take care on persons who have knowledge with students, a school background, with agood attitude.Although many of these candidates have favorable, how does we know they will all getalong?
