This muscle does not have striations. Function: -is an involuntary muscle I. It can contract without nerve stimulation and is not under conscious control. -involved in peristalsis, vasoconstriction, vasodilation,bronchoconstriction, bronchodilation and so on. Distribution: -Occurs in the walls of digestive tract,uterus,blood vessels and many other internal organs. (b) Cardiac Muscle -is the tissue of the heart Structure: -cylinder-shaped -striated -connected one to another by intercalated discs so that the excitation can be transmitted effectively from cell to cell. Function: -The cardiac muscle of the heart is myogenic I. It can contract and relax automatically without the stimulation from nerves. II.
