3 The Many Problems For Working At Nike. Introduction Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and initially operated as a distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger. It officially became Nike Inc. in 1971.The company was founded with just $1,200 in the bank. It was created by Bill Bowerman — a track-and-field coach — and Phil Knight, a middle-distance runner from Portland who was enrolled in the University of Oregon.The slogan “Just Do It” was inspired by serial killer Gary Gilmore, who said “let’s do it” just before he was executed by a firing squad in 1977. The world’s largest Nike store is not in its US homeland but on London’s Oxford Street. It cost £10.5 million to build the store, which spans three levels and roughly 42,000 feet. It was constructed around the theme of a town square. Nike Northrigde is in the process of converting to NALC (North America Logistics Campus); it is the largest Distribution Warehouse in North America. The headquarters, WHQ is located in Beaverton, Oregon. With changing systems internally and adding blue prints to the facility, Nike has ran into problems. Some of these problems include shipping the product to the wrong customer, shipping the wrong product to the customer or shipments getting left in the building. Also, some shipments do not get loaded on a trailer and products do not get to the customer on time. These are some of the main problems this multi-billion dollar company has to battle. I am a team leader at the Nike Northridge warehouse. My job duty is to meet up with my supervisor and see how much work needs to be done for the day. After I have met up with my supervisor I then call a meeting with all of my staff that I am over. I tell employees which job station I want them to work at. I work closely with my supervisor throughout the day so that I make sure that my staff is meeting the numbers for that day. I assist all of my employees on anything

Problem Statement With changing systems internally and adding blue prints to the facility, Nike has ran into problems. Some of these problems include shipping the product to the wrong customer, shipping the wrong product to the customer or shipments getting left in the building. Also, some shipments do not get loaded on a trailer and products do not get to the customer on time. The causes of the many problems at Nike has a lot to deal with communication skills. Every leader at Nike feels like they have to voice and opinion which is a good thing. But when it comes to listening and disrespecting others that is where the problem comes in at.
