Its probably not all written down on one document during the time of Solomon. 931 is when the kindom split. o They are individual sayings of the sie, further collection o 31 is acrostic contrast with the adulterous women. The father talking to the son was the way that they would teach their children. They didn’t have a school system going. Proverbs 31 women. At the end of the book you have the picture of the women that is not adultress. o Wisdom is being personified as being a women. o Prophetic voice and constantly calling to the simple. Folly also does that same thing. The simple can be drawn in either way. She also plays as a craftsman in the creation. Wisdom is with God in the beginning. They are not all male, not all female. It’s a universal aspect o Types of fools Peti –simple not bad there is hope for this fool Kesl – dull and obstinate Avil is the moral insolence and stubborn, set in their ways, don’t want to hear anything else Worst kind is the naval who is the godless fool and not even open Letz is the mocker and makes a fool of others. Not a type of fool but a mocker. Some one who mocks the torah and the teachers of the elders. Job o Is arguably a theodicy (justifying the goodness of God in the face of evil) o But how can human claim to judge God o Vindication of divine justice (ultimate reason left to God) God is just and great even though we cant understand it. o Themes in job is faithfulness o Clings to God and is allowed to ask questions o Doubt isn’t nessicarly a bad thing in itself. o Maximalist view of God’s sovereignty.
