Motion information seems to stay separated from color and form information Same rate of firing = No motion detected Different rates of firing = Motion detected n is detected for a prolonged period of time, those neurons can tire out, causing perception of movement in the opposite direction. No RIM, No EM = fixated on non-moving object No RIM, Yes EM = fixated on moving object Yes RIM, No EM = not fixated on moving object Yes RIM, Yes EM = moving eyes around non-moving object Motion Perception a. We have special neurons that are partial to either up or down movement and the movement of an object is perceived through the relative firing of these complementary neurons II.
