Analysis of the Selected Agency History The selected agency is the Johnson City County Government. Public administrative agencies provide essential services for the citizens for the citizens they serve. The selected agency is The James City County Government. It has a tremendous amount of historical sufficiency dating back to the beginnings of the English settlement in the United States. Their county has numerous tourists’ attractions which brings in millions of tourists dollars to see their colonial township. Here are a few examples of their tourist sites Busch Gardens Williamsburg theme parks, and historical Jamestowne. The government, according to the website, attempts to “manage growth and balance the needs of development with infrastructure, transportation, the quality of our schools, and the availability of water. We will continue the tradition of first-class education, medical care, public safety, recreation, and entertainment that has already been woven into the fabric of our community” (Government, 2013). These are some interesting facts to aid in helping this government agency to remain focused when making governmental decisions. Organizational Design Johnson City has created a five person commission to serve as their organizational design. The commissioners consists of the mayor, vice mayor, three commissioners, and the city manager. The departments and divisions are administration which takes care of the budget and the city manager’s office. Community Relations department and Development Services are responsible for codes, community development, geographic information systems, metropolitan transportation planning organization, and planning. The Emergency Management and Finance
departments are responsible for licenses, taxes, fire, prevention, and training. Human Resource department, Social Services, Information Technology Department, Juvenile Court, Police Department, EMS, Purchasing Department, Risk Management Legal Department, Public Works, Water and Sewer, and the Parks and
