SUPPLIES:
These supplies will be needed EVERY DAY in class:
1) Your device. Charged and ready to go.
2) Earbuds. Ones that work with your Chromebook. Check the Dollar Store.
3) A pencil and eraser.
4) Your folder designated for Chemistry materials.
5) Your scientific calculator. Any scientific (NOT business) calculator will
do, but this model is the easiest to use:

PLEASE NOTE: Your device and Smartphone WILL NOT be used on tests and
quizzes. You WILL NOT be allowed to share a calculator with a neighbor. EACH
STUDENT needs his or her own scientific calculator.
COMMUNICATION:
The two main forms of communication used for both students and parents are email and ParentSquare/
StudentSquare. Please get used to checking your email daily and using the ParentSquare/Student Square app.
HOMEWORK:
There will be a homework assignment most evenings. You may or may not be given a significant amount of
time in class to work on homework, so plan on using class time wisely and spending some time outside of class for studying. Some
homework assignments will be done electronically, and some will be done on paper. Please complete paper assignments in pencil.
The homework will be collected and graded most days. We will always go over the homework in class, sometimes the day you
hand it in and sometimes the following day. Homework assignments are designed to emphasize key ideas and processes taught in
class and to generate discussion, so completion of homework is always expected.
All homework assignments will be graded on completion. This is done to encourage all students to attempt the homework,
even if they are unsure of their work. Learning from your mistakes is the best way to learn; therefore you will not be penalized for
making mistakes on your homework. These mistakes will also generate good discussion in class. Grading on completion is also
done to discourage students from copying off each other. Since you will not be penalized for wrong answers, there is no reason ,
outside of pure laziness, to copy from someone else. Make your own mistakes.
MAKE-UP WORK:
Attendance will be very important in Chemistry since we will be covering a great deal of material on any
