Melissa Fuller PS101 January 23, 2008 Psychological research is very important, without this kind of research we would not know the reasons behind our behavior and reactions. If no one cared to do this research or about the results we would not know things like where all our fears come from (Little Albert experiment) or what happens when moral belief is pitted against the demands of authority (The Stanley Milgram experiment). In my opinion, case study, naturalistic observations and experiments that have both experimental and control groups are the best types of psychological research. In case studies you are examining in great detail the group of people or person ideal for the research you are conducting. For example, in the Stanley Milgram experiment, the psychologists had a group of people that they tested individually. The tested each person alone to see how far they would shock a “learner” when they as the “teacher” were responsible to shock them when given the wrong answer even though knew the “learner” was in pain.
