I believe that education is an effective tool in our efforts to build a more equitable society and equal opportunities for everyone in regards to education should be readily available. Unfortunately this isn't the case for so many citizens in the US. The social problem of unequal access to quality education is something our society as a whole should focus on. When an individual feels they belong and they can receive a good education whether thats school or college, their mindset when it comes to life changes and it makes them want to strive for better. Educational inequality affects society as a whole and each individual on a personal level. Not are schools in society are equally funded which is very unfortunate. The U.S department of education reported that more than 40% of low-income schools across the U.S receive less state and local funding than schools in higher income areas (Korgen & Furst, 2012). We fail at our core values of equal educational opportunities by not providing all citizens with the means to improve their economic and social status through educational attainment. When we
