The New York area held those towers that dominated the horizon. However, much more than buildings collapsed that awful day, when airliners became missiles and America itself became the battlefield. Thousands of lives came crashing down that day the airline passengers, the World Trade Center and Pentagon workers, the rescuers who died trying to rescue - so many, gone in one violent moment. A nd ultim ately, O n the day that changed everything, do we know w hat really happened? (M organ cover). This paper will not be discussing details of the events, but rather what information is available, how it was used, and other speculations on how our intelligence for 9/11 led the nations leaders into a War on Terror. Although the official government story is familiar, prior to embarking on various speculations on why the United States government failed to prevent 9/11, it is important to know how much the government has made official about terrorist attacks.
