“God’s Grandeur” by Gerard Manley Hopkins “God’s Grandeur” describes a world filled by God with a beauty and power that survives human corruption. Hopkins writes about how people ignore the beauty and grandeur of God’s presence in the natural world. The poems begins by telling how God has “charged” the world with grandeur; however then, he describes the response of humans against this “charge.” Hopkins states,
