Most students encounter some difficulties during the semester. So seek help when these problems are first encountered; this may prevent future difficulties from occurring. PREREQUISITES: MTH 251 Knowledge of matrix algebra. and experience with spreadsheets would be helpful. COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. To provide students with a thorough introduction to the entire modeling process as it relates to Operations Research and Management Science. The types of models will include: a. Financial models b. Linear programming models c. Nonlinear models which includes inventory models. 2. To provide the students the opportunity to use spreadsheet software for financial modeling problems, model fitting, and for solving linear programming models. These objectives will be accomplished through the assignment of homework sets and small projects. REQUIRED TEXT: 1. Winston, W.L., Operations Research: Applications and Algorithms, 4 th ed., Duxbury Press, 1994.
