MGT 268 – Introduction to MIS Assignment 3 Assignment Type: Individual Assignment Objectives The objectives of this assignment are to: Provide an understanding of how internal and external business activities are supported with information systems Familiarize the students with the basic definitions and concepts related to electronic commerce, intranets, and extranets Provide students with an opportunity to analyze a real-world, commercial Web site to identify the various features that are targeted at increasing stickiness Prepare the students for the final examination Point Value: 20 points Due Date: Tuesday, March 27 (at the beginning of the class period) Part 1: Basic Concepts and Definitions Your task in Part 1 of this assignment is to answer the following questions. 1. Define primary activities and give a brief description of each of the primary activities. 2. Define support activities and give a brief description of each of the support activities. 3. What are the two categories of internally focused IT applications? What are the two categories of externally focused IT applications? 4. Companies that have successfully installed enterprise systems are found to follow a basic set of recommendations related to enterprise system implementations. What are these recommendations (the recipe for success)? 5.
