Sarah Shelden LAI 350 – Introduction to Education Observation Paper 12 I observed a 1-6-1 emotionally/socially disturbed class of two juvenile delinquents who were between the ages of 12 and 14, at BOCES. The students have average IQ of 90-100. The class originally consisted of six students, but at the time four were incarcerated. In this class, the teacher began by giving out a worksheet on a play they had previously read. Only one of the students responded to the teachers’ questions, yet, the teacher did little to see if the other one was following along until they got to the end of the sheet when she simply asked if he understood. If the student gave the wrong answer or doesn’t know, the teacher offers hints to try to guide them to the answer, and then gave the students’ time to fill in the answer before jumping into the next question. When a student gets out of his seat for no apparent reason, rather then telling him to sit down, the teacher decides that he can start the movie, and verbally walks him through the
