Brent Meschuk Reeder, RS 010-1 April 2, 2008 Galatians Book Fact Sheet Part A Authorship : It is a letter from Paul of Tarsus to several early Christian communities in the roman province of Galatia in central Anatolia. Date and Place : Two dates are suggested, depending on what Paul meant when referring to “Galatia”. Paul was most likely mentioning the Roman province but could have been mentioning North Galatia which he visited on his second mission journey. It was also likely written in a city like Lystra, Derbe, or Iconium, but cannot be stated ardently since the location is determined by when Paul wrote it. (Aherne 50-52) Historical Context : Paul established churches in Galatia on his second missionary journey. Conflicts amongst three tribes in Galatia had broken out. Antiochus is the King of Syria. Paul is strictly opposed by Judiasers. People are causing trouble within the church. People assert Paul is wrong in his doctrine and impose portions of Mosaic Law. Genre
