Brent Meschuk RS 010-1, Reeder April 2, 2008 Romans Book Fact Chart Book: Romans Part A Authorship : There is no doubt that the author of Romans is Paul, as this fact is stated clearly in the opening verse. The style and content of the letter is also identical to that in which Paul is associated. Date and Place : The date and place of authorship is also agreed upon by most scholars. Romans is believed to have been written in Corinth between AD 55 and 58. Paul wrote that he was prepared to bring an offering to the believers who were in need in Jerusalem. He had already received the offering from the Macedonians and so Paul can be placed in Corinth or its part of the Cenchrea. (Beare 10-12). Historical Context : During the year AD 57, the city of Rome was the largest and most important city in the world at the time, and the capital of the fourth world empire. Nero was reigning in Rome when Paul wrote Romans. Wealth and poverty could be found everywhere and slavery was also an important aspect of life. There were at least eleven
